Denver, CO – Indie/Post-Pop band YAN YEZ is thrilled to announce the release of their new single, figs, on December 27th, 2024. To celebrate, they’ll be hosting a Christmas Hangover and Single Release Party at Skylark Lounge in Denver, Colorado—a perfect setting to publicly deliver their fig(urative) baby.
Figs, the first releasing from the band's upcoming 2025 EP I’m Right Where I’m Supposed to Be (release date TBD), intends to capture the nuanced energy of this time of year—the melancholy undertones of the Holiday season, the post-election haze, and the literal darkness that descends on us every day at 4:30pm. But it’s also baked with a dose of the all-consuming optimism christmas lights and the hope of a new year can bring.
"This is a song of and for the moment" says bandleader Nico Yañez. "It’s raw, honest, and hopeful. And it’s 2024, so no matter what we’re calling it demure".
The track also echoes the un-categorizable spirit that YAN YEZ has become known for. Earlier this summer, they were named one of "Denver’s Top 5 Up-and-Coming Queer Fronted Bands" by OMF magazine, who described their sound as "Uncategorizable.. unexpected and incredibly refreshing," drawing on influences from punk and electric to hip-hop, rock, and everything in-between.
Known for their eclectic sound and provocative, emotional, and mildly satirical live performances, YAN YEZ invites fans to join them at Skylark Lounge on December 27th to experience the debut of figs live, along with their signature blend of energy and feels.
